Jacksons Christmas Party 2024

On Friday we had the most wonderful Jacksons Christmas party at Quay Kitchen, Hayle.

Chances are you may not have heard of this hidden gem. It’s hidden away down a bumpy track near Philps famous pasty shop in Hayle. We can assure you, it is certainly worth the effort of hunting down. The food was delicious, the staff amazingly warm, friendly and welcoming, the cocktails (and other non-cocktail beverages) divine, and the musician we hired blew us all away! It was a flawless sparkler of a Christmas do, and I want to do it all over again already.

Everyone was in high spirits and dressed-to-impress in velvets, sequins and sparkles. Chas joined us for the occasion and brought along his best banter. Unfortunately, Carrie and Pete Snaden came down with a bug and had to bow out on the day but we helped them join us and experience the event vicariously with live-action photos and videos posted on our team Whatsapp group.

Sharon had booked Bethany Chadd (look up @BethanyChaddMusic if you want to check her out on Instagram) to serenade us for an hour before and after dinner. She in fact chose to play solidly for four hours, to our increasingly raucous applause, impromptu and enthusiastic singing-along, and occasional twirling around on the flag stone dance floor at her feet.

Elliot was due to set off from St Just in time to arrive for 6:15pm but unfortunately his baby daughter didn’t get the memo and kept him at home to comfort her for an extra hour or two. When Elliot did finally make it along, he arrived to hearty applause from the lot of us and his meal had been plated up and kept piping hot for him – for which he was very grateful.

At some point Pete Matthew became the preferred group portrait photographer and we gently (and later somewhat more intensely) harassed him by repeatedly chanting his name for attention whenever anyone wanted a snap of their group of friends. Along with Jacksons, the crew from Old Farmhouse Jewellery was also in attendance for their own Christmas party and they got in on the action with chanting, ‘Pete, Pete, Pete!’ whenever they felt like it too! Pete thoroughly enjoyed all the attention and photography-tasking we threw his way while he was trying to relax and enjoy the party himself. He took it in good spirits anyway!

Jacob earned himself the new moniker of ‘snake hips’ in the office. I think that speaks for itself. In true Jacksons fashion, we all hit the dancefloor together; sober and hammered alike, grinning from ear-to-ear and ripping it up to the excellent tunes.

The staff kindly parcelled up some leftover boxes of apple crumble and custard for the road and we left filled with jubilation, high heels in place and thankful for such a superb experience.

We all feel very thankful to work here at Jacksons, where our leadership duo of Sharon and Pete care deeply about all the staff and building a great company together as a team. Thank you both for all of the effort and planning that goes into entertaining us. You smashed it out of the park with this one!
